It is not difficult to brainwash people. Our culture is based on submission to authority and has a high respect for people in high places such as academia. Many of us drop our discernment at scientism, degrees, status, or when an older dignified-looking man is talking with impressive language. If there is something you want to prove and you want to avoid being questioned, the following is what you must do:
–Have an official looking website.
–Use fear or play on people’s fears.
–Mention the use or probable use of mice for a study.
–Use statistics with the thousands in your favor. Don’t worry. You can make them up. People are inherently seduced and hypnotized by stats.
–Use the names of universities and renown professors. Make it international too. Use how it worked in other countries making it seem like your own is dragging by its knuckles far behind.
–Use language that would indicate you’re educated.
–Use impressive photographs that look scientific.
–Be well-dressed, older and well-groomed.
–Say “emerging evidence suggests….” or “scientists have discovered that…” You need to use the word “science” somewhere (even if there is no real science) to render blind acceptance to scientism.
–Swear there was no funding to print this article.
–Use vague unsubstantiated generalizations which have not been tested and do not hold up to scrutiny.
–Appeal to people’s desire for blame and the need to escape from reality and self-responsibility.
–Make your point clearly in the headline since a lot of us don’t read past the headlines.
–If you can fit all the information into a meme, all the better since so many of us might not make the time to dig any deeper.
If you follow the above steps, you are now ready to direct human behavior and get people to inadvertently consent to self-harm by convincing a lot of uncritical people to believe something that is not true.
