How Knowing WHY Creates Compassion

You have to understand WHY people turn out the way they do in order to get to a point where you no longer condemn them. Condemnation is merely the result of not understanding the reason behind other’s behavior. When we understand, we create a place for compassion to be born. When we understand, we can find a place inside of us that relates to the same pain. Compassion is a natural byproduct of not just asking WHY, but going to the root cause — not the root cause you want to believe or the root cause pop-culture might have — but the actual root cause. Roots show that fundamentally we are all the same. And when you get to that place and when you tap into our shared humanity, it becomes harder to look down on others.
